ProSmile Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating ProSmile Holdings, LLC (“ProSmile”), regarding its recent data breach. The ProSmile data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.


ProSmile is a dental support organization based in New Jersey. Founded in 1998, ProSmile provides a variety of support services to dental practices, including HR and benefits administration, front-office support, revenue cycle management, financial services, marketing, and legal support for regulatory and compliance issues. Today, ProSmile operates 79 locations across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Headquartered in Toms River, New Jersey, ProSmile employs over 1,400 individuals.  


On January 27, 2023, ProSmile discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information may have been accessed. Through its investigation, ProSmile determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information through its email environment on January 7, 2022. On December 22, 2023, ProSmile began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license or other state ID card number
  • Financial account number
  • Payment card number
  • Medical information
  • Health insurance information
