Entertainment Community Fund Data Breach Investigation

Entertainment Community Fund is a non-profit organization focused on the support and aid of individuals working in the entertainment industry. Formally known as The Actors Fund, Entertainment Community Fund provides services such as emergency financial assistance, career development and management, healthcare and insurance counseling, affordable housing, support groups, workshops, and an abundance of online resources.2 Founded in 1882, Entertainment Community Fund has evolved over time to include more direct services to actors as well as creating more comprehensive support systems. Headquartered in New York, New York, Entertainment Community Fund has two additional locations in Chicago and Los Angeles and employs more than 50 individuals.


On February 19, 2023, Entertainment Community Fund experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information of in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Entertainment Community Fund determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed and acquired this sensitive information on or around February 19, 2023. On September 26, 2023, Entertainment Community Fund began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial account information
