First Guaranty Bank Data Breach Investigation

First Guaranty Bank is a community bank with branches in Kentucky, Louisiana, Texas, and West Virginia. Founded in 1934, First Guaranty Bank provides a variety of banking products and services including checking and savings accounts, loans and credit, and other financial tools. On or around May 31, 2023, First Guaranty Bank discovered that one of its third-party service providers experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to First Guaranty Bank customers may have been accessed. Through its investigation, the third-party provider determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information through a vulnerability in the MOVEit file sharing platform on May 30 and 31, 2023. On November 17, 2023, First Guaranty Bank began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Financial account number
