Eastern Radiologists Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Eastern Radiologists, Inc. (“Eastern Radiologists”) regarding its recent data breach. The Eastern Radiologists data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 880,000 individuals.


Eastern Radiologists is a radiology and diagnostic imaging medical practice based in North Carolina. Founded in 1954, Eastern Radiologists provides a variety of radiologic services, including unmatched subspecialty expertise in Body Imaging, Cardiothoracic Imaging, General/Diagnostic, Musculoskeletal Imaging, Neuroradiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric Studies, Vascular/Interventional, and Women’s Imaging.2 With over 70 board-certified physicians, Eastern Radiologists serves 17 hospitals, seven outpatient centers and 86 points of care in eastern North Carolina.3 Headquartered in Greenville, North Carolina, Eastern Radiologists employs over 100 individuals.


Recently, Eastern Radiologists discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Eastern Radiologists determined that an unauthorized party may have accessed this sensitive information between November 20 and November 24, 2023. As a result, Eastern Radiologists began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Contact information
  • Social Security number
  • Imaging results
  • Diagnosis information
  • Medical treatment information
  • Health insurance information
