Kids Care Dental and Orthodontics Data Breach Investigation

Turke & Strauss LLP, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating CDC Dental Management, Co., LLC, which does business as Kids Care Dental & Orthodontics (“Kids Care”), regarding its recent data breach. The Kids Care data breach involved personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.


Kids Care is a pediatric dental practice based in California. Founded in 2002, Kids Care provides pediatric dental, orthodontic and oral surgery services to patients from ages 1-26.3 A health care collective, Kids Care is passionate about pediatric and adolescent health and wellness and operates 25 locations throughout California.3 Headquartered in Rancho Cordova, California, Kids Care employs over 200 individuals.


Recently, Kids Care discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Kids Care determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information on or about June 15, 2023. On March 7, 2024, Kids Care began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state ID number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information (e.g., diagnosis, diagnosis code, treatment information, provider name, treatment location)
  • Health insurance information (e.g., billing/claim information, health benefit plan number, subscriber member number)
