Did You Know?
Wisconsin law provides both paid and unpaid leave for eligible employees under the
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Wisconsin’s
Family and Medical Leave Act (WFMLA).
If you are an employer with 50 or more employees, you must provide protected leave.
If you are an eligible employee, you can take up to 12 weeks of leave
for specified family and medical reasons.
The WFMLA provides for a separate set of leave entitlements even if the employee
qualifies for federal FMLA. For example, under the WFMLA, employers must offer:
- New child leave (up to 6 weeks)
- Family care leave (up to 2 weeks)
- Medical leave (up to 2 weeks)
